ENTERTAINMENT
Sunday – Welcome to Country – Terri gives us the Welcome to Country in the Bundjalung language. After the welcome, the indigenous dancers from South Grafton School will perform a dance routine for you.
Movie – The Dressmaker – a comedy, look it up on our website, or in Wikipedia.
Monday – the greyhounds have a race fixture so any other entertainment is not possible.
You can go to the South Grafton Ex Serviceman’s Club at 5.30 pm for free barefoot bowls and stay for dinner, or have a snack before or after.
You can watch the doggies race, and try your luck betting on a winner, or we will have some board games for you, or just come down and have a yak and get to know others who are visiting.
Tuesday – BBQ sausage sizzle with Jacaranda Party, and the Swing era music from the Big River Jazz Band. They played last year, and they are great entertainers. So, put on your outfits, your dancing shoes and join us for some fun.
Google outfits from the swing era, either the jazz outfits, or the full skirts with fitted tops for the ladies, while the men had the long heavy trousers and braces. However, for a better idea, google pictures of ‘outfits for the swing era’ where there is a very wide choice.
Wednesday – be entertained by Errol Gray. Errol comes from the Coffs area and has been on the entertainment scene for a long time. His songs, mostly of his own creation, are very witty and funny. He is also a bush poet and has many a yarn to spin, a lot with music. He has quite a few CDs that highlight his talents.
Thursday – Connor Willmore is in Year 12 at Maclean High School. He is a talented entertainer and has performed in many musicals, and performances. He has a very listenable tenor voice. His rendition of ‘If I were a Rich Man’ from Fiddler on the Roof at our Christmas outing last December, was very memorable. He will give us a trip down the musical memory lane. You can nominate a song if you wish.
Friday – buses leave from 4.45 pm for the Grafton District Services Club’s Monster Meat Raffles and dinner. After, the buses will take you to the banks of the Clarence River for the Venetian Carnival and Fireworks Display.
Saturday – Chris Fraser is an energetic musician who sings many of the favourite country and western songs. He will sing for us until the Monster Raffles are drawn at about 8.30 pm.
Sunday – Paddy Obrien displays his skills as a bush poet before we start the journey home.
