After no rain falling since 03 June, it decided to become cloudy, and give us a couple of spits, but not enough to make everyone change their plans and go inside on Friday, then followed by light showers on Saturday.
Eight vehicles with thirteen people arrived on Thursday, then another four vehicles with seven people arriving on Friday.
The ladies set up their game tables under one of the awnings and had a good time. On Friday, Rob’s firepit was working overtime trying to keep us all warm. Everyone decided to have takeaway for tea, so a quick walk by Marjorie and June to the Bellinger Providore, just up on the next corner, and picked up enough seafood, chips and extras to feed an army. What they brought back was what was ordered, nicely cooked, and hot.
On Saturday, everybody went to the huge Bellingen Markets, not worrying about potential rain, some came back with treasures, and some also decided to check out the CBD, a place of many eating spots. At the afternoon tea which was held in a grandstand, fees were collected, and raffle ticket sales took place. Marjorie, as President of Vice, welcomed us all to country, gave out Yvonne’s tidings, and asked Brent to introduce his friends Robyn Brockwell and Jenny Muir, two potential new members.
Those who didn’t go back to the warmth of their units huddled under Rob and June’s awning, and discussed some of the world’s problems.
Sunday started off sunny, so everyone packed up and left after breakfast or morning tea after enjoying a great weekend.
Yvonne Tomlinson had a medical episode on Wednesday 12 June, but she couldn’t have her tests at the Grafton Base Hospital until Saturday. By the time they were done, it was too late to drive down for a couple of hours. We all wished Yvonne the best test results, and that she feels better soon.
Our next outing on 05 – 07 July, is at the Taylors Arm Pub with No Beer, 27km west of Macksville. We will be parking at the sports ground just down from the Pub. There are toilets, with an outside cold shower for the naturalists, no power, and water at the dump point, but a donation box is provided. If you donate to Mine Host you can have a hot shower at the Pub. We will be holding a General Meeting on Saturday at 11:00 am. If the weather is unsuitable, we will be able to adjourn to the Pub.
Any members who want to raise an item for the agenda, please let me know, along with the seconder’s name if you have one. Because the motorbike riders like to patronise The Pub for lunch after negotiating the bendy road, we have booked for tea for Saturday night.
Those who told me they are going to Taylors Arm are:
Don Brackenreg | Robo and Margorie Murphy |
Don and Gail Ferguson | Tim and Lorraine Seale |
Tony and Belinda Flowers | Ron Steen and Carla Bennett |
Pam Fraser | Don and Yvonne Tomlinson |
Neil and Shirley McLennan |
Everybody else who would like to come, please let me know on cvrchapter@gmail.com or phone, leave a voice mail, or a text to 0419 291 433.
Regards, Don Brackenreg (Secretary).
