What a great weekend was had by all. There were 17 units with 30 people who all arrived to park in the grassy fields of the Nana Glen Equestrian Centre, plus Don & Jen P, whose two motorhomes both decided they wanted a holiday too, so they came out Friday and then Saturday to join in. Our official opening Morning Tea was held on Friday morning and Marilyn ran a Christmas Trivia Game during Happy Hour. This was won in a tie by the teams of Gary & Nola and Tim & Lorraine, with Pam enjoying the wooden spoon. A “Bring-a-plate” style dinner followed, and it was all so delicious.
Suddenly Mrs Claus appeared announcing the imminent arrival of Santa, who had been very busy overseeing the elves and wrapping presents for everyone. We all took turns to select a wonderful present from Santa. He even had a special gift for our “wubbish warrior”, Don B. It was a long-handled grabber so that he could continue to make our campsites cleaner than when we arrived, without breaking his back.
On Saturday morning, after Morning Tea and paying all our fees, the Annual General Meeting was held, where the existing committee was re-elected. A short General Meeting followed, where Lorraine submitted the next year’s Venue list, which was endorsed by all. That afternoon Marilyn ran the Christmas Cracker Left/Right Game, which was won by Gail, Ray and Chrissy. Next, we played a game called “Don’t cause an avalanche” with a dollar coin perched on top of a mountain of snow (flour). Everyone took turns to slice a piece off the mountain until the coin fell, which was then won by the previous person. After three or four rounds of everyone trying their best, Gary unfortunately caused the avalanche, making Nola the winner. Gary also won the Pin the Nose on the Snowman. This was followed by Happy Hour and the Raffles.
Nola and a wonderful team of helpers prepared a beautiful Christmas dinner consisting of chicken, ham, and four different sorts of salad, followed by a dessert of Christmas pudding and custard or fruit Salad and ice cream. What a way to celebrate the end of this year’s outings! Thanks, ladies.
Carla gave all the ladies a beautiful handmade Christmas ornament and the men an equally beautiful pen. Many thanks, Carla. After dinner, we played Bingo, called by Lorraine, for cash prizes. On Sunday we packed up and cleaned up the meeting area ready for John to take over again. We will see all of you for our first meeting of 2025 at Glenreagh on 7th–9th Feb 2025.
