Please Note: enclosed shoes are required to be worn. You will be entering industrial areas on this tour. This tour has a maximum of 24 persons only as each venue will not cater for more than this number.
The bus leaves at 8.00 am so that we can arrive at the Maclean Fisherman’s Coop in time to see the processing of the early morning catch. You will hear all about the Coop. Where the catch goes from the Coop, how much is processed each year plus other information. In the processing room, you will see the catch sorted, filleted, skinned and packed. This was given a rave review by all on the tour last year.
After, we travel back into Maclean to Botero’s famous coffee roasting factory and café. On arrival, you will be treated to a coffee, or tea, and their delicious homemade cake. On the tour, you will be given a talk and shown the roastery and warehouse. This includes seeing the coffee green and an explanation of the process to roast the coffee until it becomes the final product we buy in the shops. The warehouse should be roasting during your visit. It is a working industrial area so please follow all instructions given by the tour guide.
At Yamba, we visit Nicholson’s Fine Foods centre where Peter will talk to you about the processes he uses to make and pack his herbs, spices vinaigrettes, oils and fine chocolates. Our numbers mean that he cannot demonstrate the preparation of the foods he has for you to sample. However, he will have prepared these foods beforehand and explain how each of his products was used in the making. After the sampling, you are given the chance to buy his products using either cash or card. This tour was voted the best tour last year. It will be on three days this year to cater for those wanting to go on the tour. It is a full day tour.
Lunch is included in the tour at the Yamba Fisherman’s Coop outlet. Your choices will be given to you when I send out tour booking sheets to everyone registered about mid-August.
If you want to purchase fresh Clarence River prawns and fish, then bring a cooler bag to take them back to Grafton, purchasing them after your lunch.
Full day tour.
