Nimbin Tour 2019

$25

We travel to Nimbin, the alternative lifestyle town that has survived as being very ‘different’ since the days of the Aquarius Festival.

Nimbin is in an area known as the ‘Rainbow Region’. On the trip to Nimbin, after leaving Lismore, keep a look out for the rainbow serpent drawn on the roads, love heart in the trees etc. In the 1960’s Nimbin went into serious economic decline until 1973 when the Aquarius Festival, a large gathering of university students, practitioners of alternative lifestyles, ‘hippies’ and party people, was held in the village. After the festival hundreds of participants and festival goers remained in Nimbin to form communes and other multiple occupancy communities, in search of an ‘alternative lifestyle.

You will be given free time to stroll through the decorative and creative shops and experience the ‘hippies’ and other folk who inhabit the town and surrounds. Drug deals can be seen (though very few occur these days) and are considered a part of the culture of the town. The Hemp Embassy is a ‘must’ to visit. Nimbin is a most unusual place that is worth a visit at least once in your lifetime.

You can purchase some very nice meals in the town – just avoid the ‘green’ stuff unless it is a lettuce leaf. We can recommend the Hemp Patty wraps and milkshakes at the Lower end of town. Uptown the café does a great quiche or pumpkin pie with salad, but there are lots of other choices for you to try.

Nimbin deserves a visit at least once in your lifetime. We love it because it is so different – and it is quite safe to visit.

You will be given a time to meet back at the bus – don’t be late or you may miss the bus.

A full day tour.
